Discover Digital Photography online at Northeast State

Have a digital camera but still wondering how to get your photos in a frame? Put the pixels together when Northeast State Community College and the Ed2Go online instruction network offers the Discover Digital Photography online course every third Wednesday beginning July 19 and continuing through Aug. 30. To enroll and get an online orientation go to the Ed2Go Web site, www.ed2go.com/nstcc. Topics will include the basics of digital photography, equipment, software, the digital darkroom, printing, Internet and e-mail use, along with commercial and personal applications. Students will also learn about photographic equipment and associated costs. Designed for the beginning photographer as well as the long-time professional, the class will provide an introduction to new opportunities for putting digital photography to use.

This digital photo lab can play many roles

About the company: Digital Labrador serves amateur and professional photographers, including providing studio space and the tools necessary to edit and convert photos from film to digital; equipment rental and sales; and workshops.

Owners: Brud Jones and Pete Obetz.

Owners' roles: Obetz: "We do everything from Shop-Vaccing to taking the trash out and overseeing staff and printing photographs."

Jones: "We are very hands-on day to day and we work interchangeably, although I have more background with computer hardware and Pete is more experienced on the studio side."

How long did it take you to start your business?

Obetz: "We opened Gallery 925 three years ago together, but there was really no high-end studio rental or a place where photographers could rent high-end equipment.

Imagexpres management said it will instead focus on growing its core imaging business, and that the move also will increase shareholder value and market penetration in the long term.
