| Point, shoot and print from anywhere
A pocket-size camera and a portable photo printer are all you need to produce quality photographs anywhere you want. No computer is necessary with the Epson PictureMate Deluxe and optional internal battery (Internet price: $149). It affords improved portability with no power supply. The internal battery provides up to two hours of printing and will recharge when plugged into an AC. Brilliant color prints out of the PictureMate Deluxe cost 24 cents each, including the cost of the paper and ink. Color prints from start to finish took less than two minutes, and the color was excellent. The built-in premium photo viewer was a big help to select the photos I wanted printed after I plugged in my digital media directly into the printer. The viewer has a high-resolution high-quality 2.4-inch color LCD screen with tilt adjustment that made it real easy to see my images.

Photo exhibit examines 'California Color'
UNDER THE theme of "California Color," photographer Romain "Ago" Agostini explores color, contrast and shape in a variety of subjects in a show opening Tuesday at Gallery House. Many of his recent photographs are of desert wildflowers. Agostini, who enjoys hiking and traveling as much as photography, has captured images of desert blooms in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, Carrizo Plain National Monument, Death Valley National Park and Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve. Agostini's larger-than-life close-ups offer rich, colorful abstractions and impressions of the natural beauty found in California. In his artist statement, he notes that his interests are in both "contemplative landscape photography" and "evocative travel photography." Since the late 1990's he has worked with digital technologies that let him control the entire photographic process, from initial artistic composition to technical printing.

Photos personalize gift tins
Need a great gift for Grandma? Want to perk up your craft space? Feel your office could be friendlier? You could resort to framed photos of your loved ones ... again. Or you could combine pleasure with practicality by mounting family photos to the lids of storage tins. The success of this project really depends on the elements you use. I recommend keeping the color scheme super-simple by using black and white photos and unpainted, silver-colored tins. The classic appearance of the photos and industrial feel of the plain metal tins will give your project a chic, stylish look. I don’t usually mention brand names, but the key to this project is Lazertran waterslide decal paper. By printing digital photos onto Lazertran paper, you can create decals from your photo images.

Seven versions of posters and postcards were distributed earlier this year to 2,800 design schools in 24 countries, including 1,100 schools in North America. Unlike traditional offset printing, digital printing can produce short runs and vary the content of the jobs.
