Xerox iGen3 Digital Press Enables Modern International Graphics to Diversify Business
Modern International Graphics Inc. is using a Xerox (NYSE: XRX) iGen3(R) 110 Digital Production Press to help grow its digital printing business and become a more strategic partner for its clients. With an iGen3 110 digital press and a Xerox Nuvera(TM) 120 Digital Production System, the graphic communications company expects to grow its digital printing from 5 percent to 20 percent of overall print volume within the next two years. "We recognized that to only be good at ink on paper could be a death sentence," said Dave Margiotta, president and owner, Modern International Graphics Inc. "Getting the iGen3 digital color press was part of a business decision to continue to diversify our services and become more of an integral part of our clients' business, rather than just be an output device." Speedpro opens printing center in Sharonville
National franchiser Speedpro Imaging has opened its first Midwest location at 2736 E. Kemper Road. Speedpro is a large-format digital printing center that can produce high-resolution images of up to 1440 dots per inch. "We offer a variety of products including trade show displays, vehicle graphics, land development signs, full-color banners and graphic design services," said owner Dave Sperry. .
Xerox enhances software tools
NEW DELHI: Xerox Corporation has enhanced six software tools within its FreeFlow Digital Workflow Collection, an integrated set of software that streamlines the way print providers handle print jobs.
Xerox in collaboration with Press-sense has introduced FreeFlow Web Services 5.0, key among upgrades, new Web Services software that provides a Web portal so people can submit and buy print jobs online, known in the print industry as 'Web-to-print.'
Press-sense, developer of business flow automation solutions for the print industry, customized its iWay Prime Web-to-print software for Xerox and ensured the software integrates into the entire FreeFlow Collection, which helps printers achieve short-run printing at lower cost and grow their page volume.
Holly Muscolino, director of US-based InfoTrends Production Workflow Solutions Consulting Service, said, Nearly 25 percent of the pages printed on high-speed digital color presses arrive via the Web.
Synergy Graphics Purchases Scoville Assets (08/02/2006)
Synergy Graphics Inc., Plymouth, MN, purchased the web, mailing and fulfillment assets of Scoville Press Inc., also of Plymouth, a printer of direct mail card packs. The purchase price was not disclosed. In March, Schmidt PrintingByron, MN, acquired the cooperative direct mail and reader service card lines of business from Scoville (e-GAM 4/14/06).
Synergy, with 150 employees, offers multi-color specialty printing, specialty carton converting, direct mail services, publication printing, fulfillment services and multi-state election services and supplies. The company says the deal will broaden its range of commercial printing services, which now includes web, digital and sheetfed printing, plus a host of in-house mailing, fulfillment, finishing and other post-print capabilities.
